Bunnahabhain Information

An imperious and impressive distillery located on the north-east of Islay - the location was decided by William Robertson (of Robertson & Baxter) along with Greenlees Bros back in 1881. This remote location meant that they had to build houses as well, constructing a road and a pier too, so that workers could live nearby and casks & barley could come in with whisky going out.

Production has increased in recent times, leading to investment in the distillery site - including a visitor centre.

Tasting Notes

Nose:

Chewy toffee, caramel and hints of lime.

Flavour:

Waxy coating, ripe gooseberries and a touch spice.

Finish:

Dark cocoa powder, maritime notes - seaweed.
