Strathclyde Information

Strathclyde has always managed to operate somewhat under the radar despite its location.

Built on the banks of the Clyde on the site of an old cotton mill, initially by London distiller Seager Evans in 1927 to supply neutral grain spirit for its gins. It began producing whisky from 1936.

In 1957 Strathclyde built a malt plant – Kinclaith – within its confines. This operated until 1975.

It is now owned by Chivas Brothers stable and still goes unnoticed by many the banks of the Clyde.

Tasting Notes

Nose:

Demerara rum, cherry cola, raisin butter, crispy bacon and a hint of hot sauce.

Flavour:

Treacle toffee, pine needles, lemongrass, honeycomb, dry spices, poppy seeds and Oloroso Sherry.

Finish:

Drying sherry notes mixed with custard creams. Christmas cake with pouring cream.
