This Islay dram is actually the youngest of the bottles in this release but has a complexity beyond its years. As you would expect, the smokiness is present throughout - as are the coastal notes. The finish has a smooth and enjoyable oiliness.

Bunnahabhain Information

An imperious and impressive distillery located on the north-east of Islay - the location was decided by William Robertson (of Robertson & Baxter) along with Greenlees Bros back in 1881. This remote location meant that they had to build houses as well, constructing a road and a pier too, so that workers could live nearby and casks & barley could come in with whisky going out.

Production has increased in recent times, leading to investment in the distillery site - including a visitor centre.

Tasting Notes

Nose:

Brine, medicinal notes, lobster creels

Flavour:

Soft smoke, cured ham, poached pears

Finish:

Flax oil, salted peanuts, smoke continues but doesn't overpower
