My Nose went on Holiday!

Recently I have been suffering, okay suffering is pushing it a bit, but for the last few weeks I have had a niggling intermittently blocked nose that has played havoc with my full appreciation of the multitude of samples that cross my desk on a daily basis.  It has not fully stopped me in my tracks and I do have moments of clarity, well as much clarity as I ever have.  This situation reminded me how important it is to have a team to look after all aspects of Cadenheads and our bottlings.

At Cadenheads I am very lucky to work with an excellent team and in the following weeks and months, we will be introducing you to each of them in interviews on the blog, two of them will be people that many of you will already be familiar with, namely Jenna McIntosh and Cameron McGeachy.  Not only are they involved in handling the sales for Cadenheads in various markets across the globe but more and more they are playing an important part in the cask selection process and will continue to get more involved.

They already help write most of the tasting notes and have helped select several casks including some recent additions to the warehouse tasting selections.  They will also both be selecting a cask to pour at the upcoming malts festival in a head to head battle that I am looking forward to refereeing!

When it comes to cask selection, we run a very democratic process with everyone getting a vote on whether we should bottle something or not.  That said, Jenna and Cameron get one vote each and I get five!

Only joking – honestly!

  1. After being poorly with flu some weeks, my sense of smell, which was quite sensitive, is now much reduced. Any tips to aid recovery?
