The largest distillery on the island, Caol Ila distillery was founded in 1846. This 16yo dram boasts notes of smoked mussels, dark chocolate and iodine alongside maritime notes thanks to the coastal location of the distillery. 

Caol Ila Information

An Islay distillery known for its consistency, Caol Ila is situated on the east coast of the island. One of the lighter spirits produced on Islay, it combines a slight fruitiness and hint of pepper with the expected peatiness and sea shore notes.

Its historical significance for blends meant that, until 2002. independent bottlers were vital in allowing whisky lovers to experience the Caol Ila single malt - so we are delighted to be continuing this tradition.

Tasting Notes

Nose:

Salty, maritime notes, smoked mussels.

Flavour:

Cantaloupe melon, dark chocolate, hops, iodine,

Finish:

Dry burnt embers, ash, lemon pith. Quite creamy.
