On the nose, our Tasting Panel commented on the sweet and fruity nature of this dram from this Highland distillery. On the palate, beautifully fruity notes of red current jelly and green grapes were apparent in this 14 year old bottling from Blair Athol. This dram was rounded off with sweet notes of salted caramel and orange marmalade to finish.

Blair Athol Information

Blair Athol is a Perthshire distillery known for its strong nutty flavours. Originally named Aldour when it was founded in 1798 (changed to Blair Athol in 1825) and, like many distilleries of its kind, has had several ownership changes throughout its existence.

Blair Athol has only experienced limited distillery releases as a single malt, with the expansion of the distillery in the 1970s coming about as a result of its inclusion in blends, so this makes it perfect for an independent bottler like Cadenhead's to step in.
