Oloroso HHD since March 2021

If you are a regular customer of Cadenhead's, you may be familiar with this next distillery. Hailing from Brazil, Union distillery has been a firm favourite from our World Whiskies range. Finished in an Oloroso Hogshead since March 2021, this unpeated spirit has taken on the typical cask influence you would expect. Rich, sweet notes were apparent throughout this dram such as date syrup, black forest gateau, treacle and walnuts; we hope that you enjoy sipping on this dram as much as our tasting panel did.

Union Information

A Brazilian whisky that has become a cult favourite with the team at Cadenhead's. At the time of writing, we have released a small number of bottlings from Union and we have been intrigued and excited every time. Our jobs at Cadenhead's give us the opportunity to spirits from faraway lands and to treat our loyal customers to something different every now and then.

Surrounded by a traditional wine region, Union originally produced wine from the 1940s, with its whisky production beginning in 1972 following a change in ownership.

Tasting Notes

Nose:

Date syrup, maraschino cherries, black forest gateau

Flavour:

Cherry menthol sweets, treacle, raisins

Madeira cake, gingerbread, walnuts
